KILLM; a very short story

Okay, heads up.  I’ts not very good; I wrote it in roughly ten minutes (including typing time) on an hour long road-trip to my orthodontist.  Haha:P  anyyywho, without further ado, Here is KILLM.

Pressed against the window, upon the back seat of our vehicle, I stared out at the cracked asphalt.  Vehicles sped by; speeding metal projectiles rushing down the interstate as if it were the barrel of a gun.  Gun.  Like the one beneath the seat.  One.  Gun.

I continued to stare, eyes adjusting to the speed of the vehicles so that i could now read the words printed across their sides.  Penske.  Wal-Mart.  My mind grew tired.  Tired and vacant.  Killm.  That was painted brightly across one of the speeding monstrosities.  What an interesting word it was!  It filled my mind, played through in different accents and inflections before it settled into a constant growl. The word echoed low and subliminal as I drifted into the realm of dreams.

The darkness of the void in which I spent that dream was punctuated by that same, now unnoticed growl.  That same gravelly voice issuing the same tired command.

I awoke in a perfect state of calm I had never before felt.  My mind seemed to have simply disappeared, clearing my head of distracting thoughts.  Killm.  The enticing word yet remained.

I began to daydream of nothing and everything.  My fingers absently traced the word upon the window.  I turned my focus towards this and saw the smudges the smudges spelled the word.  Killm they said, over and over again, and when we hit a puddle in that cracked asphalt the water oh the water reflected the word a thousand times killm it said over and over and over so I did.
